Michael decided to create MILO ABA in 2018 along with his wife Loren to take his experience, innovation, and passion for teaching language and social skills to children and adolescents. Michael’s experience using applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies has been essential to provide effective programs using a group strategy to foster social skills in children and adolescents. Social skills are often left out of school curriculum due to a heavy focus on academic success and competition based extracurricular programs. It is MILO’s firm belief that developing strong social skills is just as important, if not more than excelling academically. Social skills are also a predictor of a person’s quality of life as a child, adolescent, and into adulthood. Many children do not develop social skills unless direct instruction is provided. Just like academic skill development, social skill development requires individualized and effective evidence-based teaching strategies. It is for this reason that MILO ABA relies on the principles of applied behavior analysis to conceptually analyze and assess social skills deficits. We can then design and implement programs that are tailored to the needs of the individual for him or her to learn genuine social skills that can transfer outside of the social group setting. The core of our program is to foster friendships in a safe, fun, and friendly environment built on positive reinforcement. Whether your child or adolescent has a diagnosis of an ASD, ADHD, or experiences challenges with social skills, MILO ABA believes that scientific methods rooted in applied behavior analysis can be used to teach him or her to be socially successful.
